Field Team Leader – iDE Bangladesh

Job Context
• Currently iDE Bangladesh is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for this position
• Reportable to : Project Manager – Ag Portfolio
• Contract length : 10 months (with possibility to extend upon satisfactory performance and availability of fund)
• Job Location : Rangpur Regional Office, Rangpur

Job Description / Responsibility
• Facilitate field team for program implementation after ensuring market systems development
• Staff development Supervision, program monitoring and evaluation
• Ensure finance, logistic and administrative support for team
• Keep coordination, maintain professional relationship with donor, colleague and counterpart and reporting
• Lead in planning and programmatic guidance for the project staff and other stakeholders according to project guidelines and donor requirements;
• Lead and support field implementation team to ensure the project deliverables are met;
• Review success of the project implementation and recommend changes in the implementation strategy;
• Ensure the application of iDE’s “Firm to Farm approach” and closely work with market actors specific to selected value chains and business groups/actors.
• Lead in rapid market assessment study, identify potential interventions to minimize market gaps for the FBGs/CBOs, FBAs, PLPs and PGs with appropriate implementation strategies.
• Plan and implement project activities through the preparation of multiyear and annual work plans;
• Guide field team to identify potential FBGs/WMCA/ CBOs for group formation and selection of FBAs and PLPs.
• Provide strategic support the field team in the set-up of Farm Business Groups (FBG), Farm Business Advisors (FBA) and the creation of necessary linkages to relevant Private and Public-Sector Actors (PSAs).
• Facilitate team to identify and set-up agreements with relevant PSAs on both input and output side to support the business initiatives of the FBGs.
• Facilitate team to identify new technologies, services and introduce among group as commercial basis through private sector actors or and lead firms.
• Assure quality of data collection, data organizing and cleaning as and when necessary by the team.
• Oversee project monitoring and evaluation and ensure adherence to reporting requirements;
• Monitor progress and quality of field team and provide regular updates to both the project management team and iDE’s senior management team;
• Maintain close contact and communication for project planning, strategy, technical guideline formulation and other issues with supervisor and counterparts, service providers, government, private sector and project clients
• Support budgetary control of expenditure, manage donor funds and prepare financial reports in line with donor requirements and iDE regulations;
• Carry out responsibilities in financial management and administration at the local level and ensure the efficient use and maintenance of the project resources with consultation of supervisor.
• Align with relevant iDE support teams in Dhaka and other iDE projects to ensure knowledge sharing and learning in the project and organization;
• Coordinate and work collaboratively with other implementing partners, donors, and stakeholders, Government agencies and private sector organizations;
• Ensure regular and thorough communication with field based project staff and cooperating partners, government agencies, NGOs, farmers associations, private sector organizations and clients.
• Present progress report and other reports in a regular basis as per donor and organization need.
• Present findings in other forums, sharing sessions and conferences highlighting organization;
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
• Work closely with PROOFS team members as per project as well as other project having a good coordination based on needs and urgency.

Educational Requirements
Master’s degree in Agriculture/ Business Administration/Agri Machinery or in related field

• At least 10 year(s)

Job Requirements
• Age At most 45 year(s)
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience working on market development, capacity building, farm and non-farm business group development and / or livelihoods projects involving the public and private sector and 5 years in a managerial position;
• Excellent project management, leadership and operational skills which resulted in (over) achievement of targets;
• Experience of value chain approaches to market development and sub-sector analysis;
• Good understanding of the technical, social and economic constraints at the field level;
• Must understand and be able to articulate the roles of the private sector, government and civil society/NGOs in creating an effective service market;
• Considerable understanding and knowledge of rural markets, trading relationships and rural service provision;
• Demonstrated an ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders including government agencies, research institutes and private sector service providers;
• Demonstrated an ability to manage financial and administrative systems;
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to think creatively and encourage field staff to take initiative
• Ability to adapt and work with all genders, religions, nationalities and ages.
• Fluent in Bangla and English, both speaking and writing;
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• Physical fitness required for frequent field visits and extensive travel.
