Job Description / Responsibility
Reports To : Merchandise Manager / Senior Sourcing Manager
Supervises: Assistant Merchandiser / Associate Merchandiser / Merchandiser
This position is responsible for supporting the wide range of merchandising services to Managers, including product sourcing and development, price negotiation, liaise with buyers and vendors, order follow up and supervise assistants to support merchandising service, in order to assure the smooth operation in merchandise processing and achieve the company’s quality, price and delivery goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work with MM / SSM and vendors in preparing quotation and samples before buying seasons. Work closely with buyers and vendors in price negotiation, products presentation, order handling etc. during buying trips.
Negotiate prices and delivery dates, facilitate the order placement process with suppliers, collect and distribute relevant information.
Follow up materials delivery, sample requests (counter, fit approval, photo, advertisement and pre-production samples) and approval of color and samples prior to production, provide accurate, updated and timely information to factories.
Process merchandising information to prepare cost sheets, files and documents, maintain an appropriate filing system and prepare production outlines for new orders.
Follow up and keep updated record of all samples, color approval and inspection report and lab-test reports.
Prepare contracts to suppliers for timely production arrangement.
Provide updated information of order progress, delivery, status and production status and style changes to QA Dept.
Work with QA Dept. to ensure on-time inspection of merchandise and follow up inspection and testing reports to improve product quality.
Assist MM and QA dept. in ensuring complete vendor compliance with all customs regulations and consumer standards.
Track and follow up all details of import orders.
Coach subordinates to familiar with corporate operation procedures/ systems.
Provide feedback to supervisor on the progress of various projects and the merchandising team.
Back up to MR when he/she is absent.
Act as MM/ SSM to supervise the team on daily operation during MM/ SSM’s absence.
Act as communication channel with vendors, buyers and the supporting departments i.e. track orders shipments and assist in chasing shipping documentation to logistics department and update the revised contract information to MDSE department.
Support Ad hoc assignments as necessary.

Additional Job Requirements
Form 5 standard or equivalent
4 – 6 years working experience as Merchandiser, preferably in US buying office
Good command in both written and verbal English.
Strong sourcing experience
Good vendor management and solid network contact with “A” class vendors
Work independently, responsible and supervisory skills
Good communication, presentation and organizational skills
Conversant in computer skills
