Project Coordinator – Handicap International

Job Context
Handicap International is implementing a project titled Disability-Inclusive Graduation of Extreme Poor and Poor Households in Bangladesh funded by DFID and this position is fully funded by DFID. The project will target poor and extreme poor households, including people with disabilities to support their graduation from poverty in Bangladesh.

Job Description / Responsibility
• Overall objective of the job:
• Responsible for smooth implementation of Disability-inclusive Poverty Graduation of Extreme Poor and Poor Households in Bangladesh (GPAF) project, including close co-operation with Deputy Programme Coordinator and Programme Coordinator, co-ordination with relevant authorities, ensuring the project operational plan for Year 3 is implemented in line with the proposed timelines and the high quality data is regularly collected in order to allow the project team to report on achieved results.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise the project implementation in a pro-active and supportive manner, according to the project strategies and plans defined at the programme level;
• Ensure regular data collection in collaboration with project managers;
• Contribute to improve the project’s MEAL plan in collaboration with Programme Coordinator;
• Support the project team by ensuring technical recommendations are applied in all project components in close coordination with the HI Bangladesh Technical Unit and the Regional Advisors;
• Develop weekly, quarterly and annual reports; including planning to draft these outputs with relevant colleagues;
• Support collection of case studies, testimonials and other communication products in coordination with Programme Coordinator and Country Director;
• Ensure inclusive approaches in the project with regard to disabilities and cross-cutting issues, including gender mainstreaming and environmental protection;
• Ensure smooth budget expenditure of the project and conduct regular reviews of the expenditure in co-operation with Finance Manager;
• Address in timely manner any logistical requirements of the project in coordination with Logistic Manager;
• Provide inputs on human resources management of the project to Programme Coordinator and HR Manager;
• Contribute to and participate in delivering training to programme team in coordination with Programme Coordinator and Deputy Programme Coordinator, in particular on project cycle management skills;
• Manage partnership relations, by ensuring constructive and collaborative communication with Partners and other relevant actors, including government representatives;
• Promote HI values and approaches to achieve high quality results in the project

Educational Requirements
Master’s degree in any discipline of Social Sciences, economics, rural development, agriculture, public health, rehabilitation or other relevant subjects

Experience Requirements
• 4 to 5 year(s)

Job Requirements
• 4- 5 years experience in project coordinator/ management positions
• Solid knowledge of M&E frameworks, project logical frameworks; indicators measuring project progress and data collection methods;
• Strong Excel skills including managing databases (on the job training to deepen skills is available);
• Demonstrated experience in management of development projects, preferably with the focus on sustainable livelihoods and poverty reduction;
• Sound experience in financial management;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Strong people’s management skills;
• Proficiency in English and Bengali;
• Willingness to travel frequently to project areas;
• Practical experience in providing interactive and effective training (on the job training to deepen skills is available);
• Experience in partnership management and appropriate communication with Government and other Authorities;
• Demonstrated commitment to human rights of marginalized and vulnerable individual and groups;
• Experience in working with people with disabilities or with other vulnerable groups
• Working knowledge of multiple districts across Bangladesh is an asset
