Assistant Manager – Social & Community Relations – Summit Corporation Limited

Job Context
Duty Station: Primarily at Head Office, Dhaka; however, incumbent may be required to be temporarily stationed at any Power Plants of Company within Bangladesh.

Job Description / Responsibility
• Prepare/Assist/Support in developing scope of works for engagement any consultant for conducting SIA (Social Impact Assessment) for any new project.
• Review and understand the projects social documents and reports, and principles and Bangladesh Government’s rules & regulations, financiers guiding standards and IFC Performance Standards & ADB standard policy applicable to the Project
• Consulting SCL subsidiaries on social issues including lender, investor’s requirements
• Supervise/support any ongoing exercise of Social Impact Assessment (SIA).
• Timely monitor performance of existing projects based on approved criteria.
• Assist the Company in implementing resettlement and rehabilitation, livelihood restoration or community development activities in accordance with the Company’s Action Plans or Procedures and recommendation made by project specific SIA.
• Maintain an effective practice of Community Consultation and Participation so that the communication and channel with the community is adequately maintained
• Identify and engage different level of stakeholders by establishing clear stakeholder engagement channels and procedures
• Receive, investigate and resolve grievances or concerns at corporate level that arises from the community due to the Project Activities and proper record keeping of the activities
• Conduct periodic audit of existing operational & under construction facilities
• Perform other relevant tasks or responsibilities assigned by Company’s Supervisor/Management

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or any development related disciplines, preferably with a Master’s degree from a reputed University in Bangladesh or abroad.

Experience Requirements
• At least 5 year(s)

Job Requirements
• Five (05) or more years of experience working on issues related to development program support/management, community engagement and development, livelihood restoration, resettlement and rehabilitation
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with diverse group of people and proven capacity to produce quality reports and write-ups
• Have understanding on all local laws related to Social Compliance and IFC Performance Standards ADB safe guard policy
• Understanding of environmental / social aspects related power plant operation & construction will get preference
