Head of Health – Dhaka – Friendship

Job Description / Responsibility
Your Role: You will lead the health sector and the team working in this sector both at HO and field level. Through your leadership, you will help your team to achieve Freindship’s vision that ‘every individual living in Friendship’s catchment areas lives healthy, fulfilling life enabled by high quality health services and information delivered by Friendship and its partners’. Your work will focus on the following key areas:
You will ensure delivery of results as specified in various project documents.
You will develop the health team to be a cutting-edge team in managing programmes and ensuring consistent programme growth and improvement of quality.
As a member of the Senior Management team you will contribute to/participate in activities for the overall development and growth of the organization.
You will fulfill the above role by:
Providing leadership to the Health sector
Lead the Health team in implementing health interventions in ways that deliver desired results, in time and with quality
Provide inputs in the design and implementation of projects/interventions
Constantly innovate better/more effective ways of doing things
Liaise/coordinate/negotiate with other teams/departments of the organization to facilitate the work of the Health Team
Team Development and Management
Support the growth and development of team members through coaching, counseling, training or other appropriate modalities
Be responsible for day to day management of the team
Ensure proper delegation of responsibilities within the team
Carry out annual appraisals of your direct reportees; ensure that agreements reached during appraisals are acted upon
Ensure that the Health Team at all levels is motivated and develop among them, a sense of commitment and ownership for Friendship’s mission
Help facilitate/mitigate any difficult situation arising out of employee dissatisfaction
Ensuring Quality of care
Ensure that health interventions meet quality standards and/or are carried out with quality
Ensure that client/patient considerations are at the centre of Friendship’s work
Enable relevant team members to develop/improve technical skills required to complete their respective jobs through training and/or other means
Be responsible for managing any situation arising out of patient complication
Donor relationship management
Develop thorough understanding of Friendship’s existing and potential donors
Ensure timely and effective communication with donors
Ensure that donor reports are delivered in time and with quality
Take part/lead negotiations with donors- existing and/or new
Resource Development
Identify potential donors/philanthropists and constantly make efforts to fund raise for Friendship
Participate/lead the process for development of project proposals or applications for funding
Contribute to ideas for new resource development
Actively participate in recruitment of high caliber staff for the Health team
Networking and representational role
Maintain/support maintenance of effective network and collaborative relationship with relevant government officials/departments
Represent Friendship in various meetings/forums
Work to raise Friendship’s profile among various stakeholder communities
Develop collaborative relationships with relevant agencies/NGOs/others to foster Friendship’s work
Role as a Senior Management Team member
Support the ED in any organizational issue as and when required
Partake in any routine or emergency meeting of SMT
Contribute ideas for the advancement of the organization
Help to develop inter-departmental collaboration and coordination
Carry out any other assignment/task which may be delegated by the ED

Job Nature
Full-time

Educational Requirements
A Masters of Professional degree from a reputed institution; post graduation preferred
Overseas/ training/ work experience will be an added benefit

Experience Requirements
8 to 10 year(s)

Additional Job Requirements
Health sector experience is preferred
At least fifteen years of experience of which 4-5 years in CEO/ senior management position
Experience of distance management and team leadership needed
Is a leader: can think big, motivate and inspire, has a ‘presence’
Good communicator- is able to convey ideas convincingly; is comfortable in both bangla and English; good public speaking capacity
Good team player with great interpersonal skills, positive attitude, believes in developing others
Can delegate effectively
Flexible and adaptable, happy to adjust to different work environments/conditions
Good coach/mentor
Willingness to travel
